Scan-to-BIM accuracy: what tolerance actually means on a retrofit project.

"Sub-centimetre accuracy" means nothing without a tolerance standard attached to it. Here's how we define accuracy before the first scan is taken.

Registration accuracy is reported across the full survey, not quoted as a headline figure.

Questions to settle before the scanner arrives

What tolerance the design team actually needs to work to.
Which areas will be modelled, and which stay as point cloud only.
How capture is phased around occupied or operational floors.
The coordinate system the survey is georeferenced to.
Where site verification remains advisable despite the scan.
